Tacoma 3.5L 8 Way map switching guide information
(note the PDF guide is in the "tuning resources" Folder within VF Tuner install folder C/program files x86 / VF Tuner)

Simplified Guide to Map Switching Calibration Concepts. (which the user would utilize for whichever mode they need)
These example options are for research and development purposes for enhanced off - road driving.

Please review the Map switch PDF to understand when each mode is called.

Example A: Atkinson Delete Max Response (S mode + ECT)

Atkinson valve retard is used mostly in low loads and very low RPM by reducing valve advance on the intake cam. You can modify, or even delete this by advancing the cam.
Two methods that can be employed to create a maximum response scenario would be Maximizing your valve advance and increasing your throttle limitations

    Example B: 4 Low Crawl Mode (4Low + ECT)
This map switch mode would make it possible to severely reduce total engine horsepower and torque, even at full throttle, allowing you to use every bit of the accelerator pedal while having full control of the vehicle without surges in power.
To employ this we will severely retard the intake cam as we approach higher engine load and we will reduce throttle effectiveness at the same time.
To further increase this reduction in torque at full throttle we are going to employ another step in throttle reduction, ignition retard.
Note, ignition retard can cause excess heat when used for very long periods. It would be important to slightly richen the AF mixture here.

We will be releasing information this month on how our new transmission logic works.

Also we will have a beta available for folks who want to test the new stuff

Let me know if I can get in on beta testing. I've been working in transmission tables but need to figure out which one controls 4low. With them all averaged and all maps equal, 4low lunges pretty hard into the next gear.
